Homecoming Chan to drive Hong Kong mega-events

HKTB is relocating Raymond Chan from Singapore to its Hong Kong head office as he takes up the role of general manager, event and product development.

Chan was Hong Kong Tourism Board’s regional director, Southeast Asia, based in Singapore for the past five years following several other marketing and public affairs positions after joining HKTB in 2012.

The move comes as mega events and festivals are among the products targeted as Hong Kong’s visitor economy recovers from Covid restrictions and officials seek to restore the city’s international image following the social unrest of 2019.

“Mega events are an important platform for promoting Hong Kong’s tourism, as they showcase the unique appeal and offer diverse experiences to visitors,” said Dane Cheng, HKTB executive director.

Martin Gwee, currently director, marketing, Southeast Asia, will be promoted to director, Southeast Asia, on Chan taking up his new role on July 1.
