Mix Picks: Alfresco Possibilities

St Regis Sanya China

Location: For the past few years Hainan has been touted as the Hawaii of China but it’s much more than that. Unlike America’s Asia-baiting island, Hainan is remarkably easy to get to from all around the APAC region. It also remains remarkably unspoilt by the masses, functioning very much as a high-end retreat for the business elite of China.

Outdoor Meetings: With four outdoor venues available, the St Regis, Sanya has really pushed the boat out with its alfresco offerings. The most impressive, though, has to be the hotel’s Beach Lawn. As the name suggests, this 2,000 sqm venue is located on the beach offering a spectacular, palm tree framed view of the ocean.

Capacity: The venue can accommodate up to 800 guests and, despite being outdoors, can be fully equipped with audio/visual services. Ideal for a sunset conference.

Peninsula Hong Kong

Location: Although Hong Kong does have a surprising amount of green space to offer, it’s not the unspoilt countryside that makes the city so special. Instead, it’s the high-powered, high-vis metropolis so exquisitely captured in the Victoria Harbour Skyline.

Outdoor Meetings: The Peninsula Hong Kong’s Garden Suite is a spectacular terrace on the top of the original hotel building. Only accessible by private elevator, the suite fulfils another Hong Kong specialty – exclusivity. Overlooking the harbour from TST, guests can feel part of the famous skyline atop this iconic building.

Capacity: At 253 sqm, the Garden Suite can accommodate up to 50 at any one time.

Sukhothai Hotel Bangkok

Location: Despite being located in downtown Bangkok, the Sukhothai positions itself as an urban oasis. With its lush gardens and extensive green space, the hotel is clearly dedicated to providing an inner city sanctuary. The central location, however, is a bonus as it makes the venue an accessible spot for hosting meetings and events.

Outdoor Meetings: The Garden Lawn is the latest addition to the hotel’s already extensive list of meeting and event spaces. Indeed, many of the small, private meeting rooms have an outdoor element to allow guest to take alfresco breaks throughout their event. This new space has been designed around large scale product launches and it has been successfully used by a number of luxury car brands as a spot to showcase their vehicles.

Capacity: At 800 sqm, the Sukhothai garden can comfortably host 600 people for a cocktail reception. The lawn also features adjacent parking – perfect for showing of prestigious sports cars.

Le Méridien Khao Lak Beach & Spa Resort Thailand

Location: Le Méridien, Khao Lak has one of the most enviable locations in southern Thailand.  Set amid Phang Nga’s National Park, the hotel has direct access to this unspoilt natural reserve.

Outdoor Meetings: As well as having over 8500 sqm of indoor meeting space, Le Méridien has 26 hectares of stunning outdoor space. Comprised of both beach and rainforest, the hotel’s exterior space options are limited only  by the imagination. Perhaps the most unique setting is within the rainforest, which has previously used to host banquets, conferences and incredible presentations.

Capacity: The 26 hectares and 13 kilometers of beach can be used for large scale events. Limitations on numbers depend on the exact setting and event type.

Hyatt on the Bund Shanghai

Location: With it’s setting on the Shanghai Bund, the Hyatt is at the heart of the most exciting destinations in China. The hotel is a dedicated conference venue with two grand ballrooms on the entrance level and nine smaller meeting rooms. Capable of  hosting up 1,092 in a single room, locally, the hotel is among the best equipped for large scale, inner city events.

Outdoor Meetings: The mezzanine level Glasshouse is a unique proposition. With a 180 degree panoramic view across the Bund, the venue already feels like an year-round outdoor space. It’s the large terrace, however, that provides the true alfresco experience. The slightly larger than the indoor space, it has it’s own unique entrance making it feel like a standalone venue.

Capacity: The glasshouse is 79 sqm, whilst the terrace is 85 sqm. Both are capable of accommodating around 100 guests at any one time.
