Marco Polo’s The Murray Hong Kong to be Niccolo flagship

Niccolo Hotels, a luxury hotel brand from Marco Polo Hotels, will launch its flagship Hong Kong property in October 2017.

The Murray, a Niccolo Hotel will offer 336 guestrooms and suites across 27 floors, high-end wellness facilities, four yet-to-be announced restaurants located on the first three floors, plus a large rooftop bar offering views over the city.

Meeting facilities will include The Niccolo Room, suitable for a banquet setting of up to 240 or reception for 350, plus six smaller meeting rooms.

Marco Polo executives say the hotel will rejuvenate an iconic building perched on Cotton Tree Drive that served as government offices.

Originally built in 1969, the tall, white landmark has distinctive arches and unique recessed windows that protect the interior from direct sunlight – garnering a number of awards for its innovative energy-efficient design.

Renowned architectal firm Fosters & Partners has been tasked with revamping the architectural details and interior design for Murray Building’s new life as a luxury hotel.

Duncan Palmer, the managing director of the hotel, said: “I am quite confident this will become the preferred hotel in Hong Kong for visiting dignitaries, captains of industry and leaders in style. They will appreciate the sophisticated and international standard of hospitality that the Niccolo brand delivers.”

The first Niccolo-branded property opened in Chengdu in April 2015.

Jennifer Cronin, president of Marco Polo Hotels, said: “The Chengdu [Niccolo] property is a great success and we are very excited to be able to announce another even more exciting landmark project for Hong Kong. The Murray, a Niccolo Hotel, Hong Kong will certainly establish our Niccolo brand and the excellence it stands for firmly in the minds of international travellers.”
