Technology will also be “front and centre” with data having to be gathered before during and after events, the Cvent Accelerate Singapore conference heard.

A spokesman for the tech provider said the event’s 523 attendees were challenged to think how they used data and additional ways to use it across marketing, in scaling event planning and execution, and how to rely on data-backed analytics to develop strong strategies and boost business growth.

Artificial Intelligence
Other topics covered were artificial intelligence and how businesses within events and hospitality can effectively leverage the latest innovations to streamline processes and maximise resources.

Will Kataria, Cvent’s senior director and general manager, Asia Pacific, said the high attendance at the conference showed how people in events and hospitality were keen to know more about advances in tech.

“Cvent Accelerate was designed to give event planners, marketers, and hoteliers expert knowledge based on best practices so they can expand and build upon their event success,” Kataria said.

Experts shared “real-life examples of how technology is supporting and revolutionising events from the procurement through to post-event stages”, he  said.

Delegates also heard about event retention, planning and management, and how data can further meet sustainability goals. They heard from innovators who are using attendee foot traffic to generate power for the event, and outcomes from experimenting with aeroponics and reducing food waste.

Sustainability
Cvent Accelerate Singapore contributed to environmental conservation with 504 trees planted in a mangrove reforestation site in Mozambique, investment made towards reduction of CO2e through renewable energy projects totalling 82.7 tonnes and 96 per cent of attendees travelling locally.

Nico Nicholas, CEO, Trees4Events – Zeero – Trees4Travel Cvent’s sustainability partner said: “We are delighted to support Cvent’s mission to educate, reduce, and mitigate the impact of events, inspiring positive change through leadership and action; sustainability is no longer a goal; it is essential to the fabric of all events.

“Events provide a prime opportunity for organisations to demonstrate their values and put words into action. Advanced technology allows us to track and understand the impact of events on our environment. We can use this information to implement better practices to reduce our carbon footprint,” Nicholas said.
