THOUSANDS of specialists in human reproduction will be heading to Tokyo in 2025 after the Japanese capital’s convention bureau won the bid to host the World Congress of the International Federation of Fertility Societies.

IFFS 2025 is expected to bring 4,000-plus participants including 1,500 from more than 30 countries when the event takes place at Tokyo International Forum.

Tokyo Convention and Visitors Bureau (TCVB) said the deciding factors included Japan’s longstanding contribution to the International Federation of Fertility Societies’ mission, sponsorship commitments from pharmaceutical companies specialising in reproductive medicine and solid plans by the committee that organised the bid.

A generous subsidy from Tokyo Metropolitan Government to provide financial support for the Congress was also essential in the bid decision, TCVB said. The bureau brought considerable expertise and experience in supporting Japan Bid Committee prepare its bid proposal and presentation materials.

“The convening of this Congress in Tokyo – the centre of academic activities of numerous research-oriented societies – will significantly impact academia in Japan,” a spokesman for TCVB’s Business Events Tokyo said.
