Malaysian state’s first Virtual Roadshow to China features 26 exhibitors from Penang and 150 buyers across five Chinese cities

PENANG Convention and Exhibition Bureau is embarking on a virtual roadshow tour five regional markets in China with the Malaysian state’s first event of its type.

The inaugural Penang Virtual Roadshow to China 2021 (PVRTC 2021), May 18-20, plans to showcase 26 of the island’s tourism and business events products to some 150 pre-qualified buyers across Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Guangzhou and Chengdu.

PVRTC 2021 will also hold virtual forum on each day of the show bringing together travel and business events leaders from both China and Penang to discuss future trends and the post-Covid travel and business events landscape.

There will also be a forum each day (11am-noon China/Malaysia time) with topics on International Safe Travel, China Incentive Market Trends and the Needs for Corporate and Association Meetings.

Alicia Yao, of the China Business Event Industry Committee, will moderate the opening International Safe Travel Insurance Cooperation forum on May 18 with Yeoh Soon Hin, Penang State Executive Councillor for Tourism and Creative Economy; Liu Yang (Insurance Association of China; Su Jicheng, China Civil Airports Association, and Wu Xiaomin, International SOS.

Molly Zhu, of MeetingsChina, will moderate Post Covid-19 Trends and Needs of the China Incentive Market, on May 19, with Liu Ping, China Star; Chen Yan, Bravolinks, and Yang Jun, of Ping An insurers.

A spokesman for Penang Convention and Exhibition Bureau said China recovered fast from the Covid but the pandemic “badly hit the global public health and travel landscape since early 2020”.

“The country has also always been a crucial market for Malaysia, especially Penang. According to the latest available statistics, Malaysia has been welcoming over two million Chinese nationality visitors per year since 2016.

PVRTC 2021 will connect 150 pre-qualified China buyers from the wider travel, business events including corporate and association meetings and incentive markets to Penang’s finest sellers of the hotels, convention centres, unique venues, DMCs and event organisers.
