High-tech meetings at Sofitel Guangzhou

GUANGZHOU If your meeting involves plenty of web interaction and video conferencing with colleagues and partners halfway across the world, then the newly opened Salon Flaubert on the third floor of Sofitel Guangzhou more than fits the bill.

The 113-venue, arranged in a circular set up, is outfitted with several IT hardware that are not the norm even in most tech-savvy hotels. Each meeting participant in this 46-person venue has his own personal 17-inch high-definition screen with individually controlled microphone as well as an ergonomic chair equipped with multiple multimedia ports.

The room also has two 42-inch LCD TVs that can provide automatic video tracking and image projection, a video conferencing system and a sophisticated voting system. It also has a simultaneous translation booth.

Salon Flaubert offers free wifi access.

“We have invested CNY680,000 (US$107,302) to install all the technology in this meeting room,” said Ben Yang, MICE sales director, Sofitel Guangzhou, adding that the venue is ideal for high-level board meeting, academic seminars and high-tech product launches.

Recently, the room was the site of a board meeting by the Star Alliance.

Sofitel Guangzhou is now offering a Salon Flaubert “luxury meeting” package. It includes a 50 per cent discount on room rental amounting to CNY7,500 (US$1,183) net for a half-day session, complimentary L’Occitane gift packs for delegates, a luxury tea break and deluxe meeting facilities set up.

Available for booking until August 31, 2012, the Salon Flaubert meeting package also allows companies to earn double Le Club Accorhotels Meeting Planner points.
