Gold Coast to host 8,000 for Chinese incentive

One of China’s largest personal health care companies, Infinitus, is set to bring 8,000 delegates to Australia’s Gold Coast for what is slated to be one of the country’s largest ever business events.

The Queensland City will host Infinitus China for its weeklong incentive trip in May 2018, which is expected to generate more than A$50million (approx US$38m) in expenditure.

Gold Coast Business Events, a division of Gold Coast Tourism, Tourism and Events Queensland and Tourism Australia teamed up to secure the bid.

“To win this prestigious event, we had to demonstrate that our city has all the elements essential to delivering an extraordinary program that will leave Infinitus delegates inspired,” said Anna Case, director of Gold Coast Business Events.

“We’ve proven that we’re a serious contender as the destination of choice for large scale international business events, with an exceptional offering for delivering distinctive and memorable programmes.”

Queensland minister for Tourism and Major Events Kate Jones said the securing of the big was a “great example of collaboration between Tourism and Events Queensland, Tourism Australia and Gold Coast Tourism”.

Jacky Hu, general manager for Infinitus China, said: “We are truly amazed at the endless choices we have to help us put together a one-of-a-kind business travel incentive holiday for our delegates. Already, we are very impressed by the attentiveness of Tourism Australia and Gold Coast Tourism.”
