Dreamtime 2015 wins Best Corporate Event

Tourism Australia’s Dreamtime 2015 Business Session and Dinner, delivered by Belle Laide Events, has won Best Corporate Event at the 2016 Australian Event Awards.

“Not only did Belle Laide Events successfully bring to life Tourism Australia’s theme for Dreamtime 2015, ‘Adelaide –Welcome to our home’,” says John O’Sullivan, Tourism Australia’s managing director, “but they also demonstrated first-hand Australia’s exceptional business events capabilities through their event delivery of the Business Session and Dinner.”

The award recognises an event that best represents the culture of the host organisation or brand, and best achieves the business outcomes.

“We are incredibly proud of Dreamtime and the outcomes it produced,” says Mark Taylor, director of Belle Laide Events. “So much good energy went into this project from everybody involved and it is great to see this recognised by the events industry.

“It was a pleasure working with Tourism Australia and our amazing suppliers from South Australia and all over the country to help promote Australia as a world class business events destination.”

The Business Session of Dreamtime 2015, Tourism Australia’s corporate event and incentive showcase held in December, attracted more than 60 Australian sellers and 100 international buyers and media.

The Australian landscape was central to the session’s theme. Morning and afternoon tea were served via mini hot air balloons and bicycles. Lunch featured cooking stations showcasing South Australian cuisine.

The Dreamtime Dinner was held at the National Wine Centre. Before each course was served, a film featuring the relevant Australian personality introduced it. Businessman Hagen Stehr told the story behind his Hiramasa Kingfish in Port Lincoln, and winemaker Ben Bryant introduced the Jacob’s Creek Centenary Shiraz and the Barossa Valley.

Chocolatier Steven Ter Horst appeared in person to create the Dreamtime dessert.

Personal touches included a mailbox for each guest, containing a miniature koala.

“Dreamtime continues to deliver wins for the Australian business events industry,” says O’Sullivan.

“Along with this award, the showcase has generated over 80 leads and 18 confirmed pieces of business for sellers, as well as over 150 pieces of media coverage.”
