MALAYSIA Convention and Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) has appointed Azman Haji Tambi Chik as the national bureau’s new chief executive.
Azman has a corporate background stretching back three decades across industries including tourism and hospitality, F&B and technology.
In his new role, Azman will be tasked to spearhead the business events industry, one of Malaysia key economic drivers.

He has worked with Damansara Holding, which is listed on the Malaysia stock exchange, and has led and strengthened corporate communications at Johor Corporation, the state’s main development institution.
Azman played a pivotal role in managing Rangkaian Hotel Seri Malaysia (RHSM), where he introduced the guest satisfaction indicator to increase the profitability of the company. He has also held senior management positions and significantly contributed to facilitating new technologies for multiple start-ups in Malaysia.
MyCEB said its board of directors identified Azman’s passion for building teams and his proven track record in managing diverse stakeholders as key attributes that would enable him to champion the various organisations and interests that comprise business events.

“We are in an advantageous position to driving the business events industry with industrial advancements available to us,” said Azman, adding that there is an abundance of opportunities capitalise on as “Malaysia holds a key position in navigating this industry for the region”.
“I am delighted to be given the opportunity to represent an industry as sizeable and important as business event. I will work closely with members and stakeholders on research, policy, skills, training, events, and advocacy with the government to provide impactful support and services,” he said.
