JASON TAN, chief executive of Business Events Sarawak, has been made chair of ICCA’s Asia chapter for the 2026-2028 term, underscoring the growing influence of Asia Pacific in the global business events industry.
The appointment makes Tan the first Sarawakian to lead the regional chapter at a time when Asia Pacific has emerged as the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA)’s fastest-growing chapter.
Tan said he would focus on strengthening collaboration and inclusivity across the region’s membership.

He also thanked Jane Vong Holmes, Senior Manager for Asia Pacific at GainingEdge and Immediate Past Chair of the ICCA Asia Pacific Chapter, for her contribution to the association’s development in the region.

ICCA represents more than 1,000 member organisations across more than 100 countries and territories through six regional chapters: Asia Pacific, Africa, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, the Middle East and North America. The association operates to connect the global business events community through collaboration, knowledge exchange, advocacy and professional development.
The appointment comes as Asia Pacific continues to strengthen its position in the international meetings market, with growing membership, expanded collaboration across destinations and rising demand for business events throughout the region.
