Galaxy in conference pole position

ENGINES are revving as Galaxy Macau crosses the chequered flag into motor-sport conferences by becoming global partner and venue host for the FIA conferences in 2026 and 2027.

The announcement follows the successful hosting of the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA)’s Conference and Extraordinary General Assemblies at the Galaxy International Convention Centre. The FIA is a global governing body for motor sport and mobility.

Some 446 FIA delegates from 198 member organisations across 139 countries gathered to steer the future of motor sport.

As Macao shifts from a casino-centric economy to a dynamic hub for global sports and innovation, Galaxy Macau sees its partnership with the FIA as helping the Macao government go full throttle into diversifying in to more international sports events.

“This global alliance reflects Galaxy Macau’s unwavering commitment to elevating Macau’s international sports landscape, in alignment with the Macao SAR Government’s vision to position Macau as a ‘City of Sports,’” said a spokesperson for Galaxy Entertainment Group.

“Our time here in Macau has been inspiring and truly productive,” said FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem. “This annual conference is an opportunity for us to bring members together from across our global federation, and I am delighted we have been able to host them in such an exceptional venue.”

Kevin Kelley, Chief Operating Officer of GEG, said: “Galaxy Macau is profoundly honoured to support this prestigious conference – bringing together visionary minds, dedicated professionals, and innovative leaders shaping the future of mobility worldwide.”

The Macao SAR Government is championing “Tourism + MICE” and “Tourism + Sports” strategies as the city shifts gears to an economy in which international events take pole position.

Guests at the 2025 FIA Conference, which opened on June 10, included O Lam, Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture; Elaine Wong, Director of the Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute; FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem; AAMC Chairman Chong Coc Veng; and GEG’s Kevin Kelley.

Over three days, delegates tackled topics such as safety and sustainability in motor sport, the role of AI and data analytics in mobility, and the balance between regional perspectives and global ambitions.

Delegates also experienced Macao’s unique blend of tradition and innovation. From local gastronomy to cultural performances, the city showcased its vibrant identity, proving it’s more than just a pit stop – it’s a destination.

The Macau Grand Prix, now roaring into its eighth decade, remains one of the world’s most iconic events.

“With the Greater China region emerging as a leader in electric vehicle adoption and the world’s largest automotive market, this partnership solidifies Macau’s growing influence in shaping the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and also across the world,” the GEG spokesperson added.
