Cho steps up as Coex’s 20th chief

A LOGISTICS expert with a doctorate in economics has been made the new CEO of Coex in Seoul.

Cho Sang-hyun became the business event venue’s 20th chief executive in March after his appointment was approved by the board of the Korea International Trade Association (KITA).

He will serve a three-year term and the South Korean capital’s largest exhibition venue which also spans retail, dining and leisure outlets.

Cho, who was previously director of KITA’s International Trade and Commerce Research Institute, holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Pusan National University, a master’s in Logistics Systems Engineering from Korea Maritime & Ocean University, and a PhD in Economics from Pusan National University’s Department of Trade.

Since joining KITA in 1990, Cho has built extensive expertise in international trade and commerce, serving in key leadership roles such as Head of the Startup Global Support Office and Director of the International Trade and Commerce Research Institute.

The Busan native is regarded as having a deep understanding of the rapidly evolving global landscape combined with strategic leadership skills. 

Cho’s role will involve further strengthening Coex’s role as a platform that supports domestic companies in enhancing their global competitiveness and expanding into international markets.
