Aviation events gaining altitude in HK

Airspace Asia Pacific 2025 held by the Civil Air Navigation Services Organisation joins roster of industry events as Hong Kong’s Airport City takes shape along with its expanded role as air-cargo and Greater Bay logistics hub

AVIATION INDUSTRY events continue to navigate their way to Hong Kong with the inaugural Airspace Asia Pacific set to land in 2025.

The city has won the bid to host the conference and exhibition, which will be a new event organised by the Civil Air Navigation Services Organisation (CANSO) to bring together senior leaders and professionals in air traffic management (ATM) and unmanned traffic management (UTM).

Airspace Asia Pacific 2025 is scheduled to take place at AsiaWorld-Expo (AWE), December 9-11, 2025, with CANSO members also invited to attend the association’s regional summit during the event.

CANSO members support over 90 per cent of the world’s air traffic and include air navigation service providers, airspace users and operators, manufacturers and aviation industry suppliers.

“We are thrilled to launch Airspace Asia Pacific in Hong Kong,” said Simon Hocquard, director general of CANSO. “This event represents our commitment to fostering a stronger ATM and UTM community in the Asia Pacific region by leveraging digitalisation, virtualisation, and other cutting-edge technologies.”

As a connecting hub of China’s fast-growing Greater Bay Area, renowned for its rapid regional growth and vibrancy in aviation development, we look forward to connecting thought-leaders and fostering innovation and collaboration in the industry around the world.”
– Irene Chan, AsiaWorld-Expo CEO

As AWE expands as a venue for more aviation industry events, including Super Terminal Expo and Routes World, Airport City is being developed as work on the third runway nears completion.

Airport City will stretch from AWE, though the 11 Skies retail and entertainment development to the port facilities at Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge on one side, and the world’s busiest air-cargo hub at the other. The whole facility is being prepared as a key air-passenger and logistics hub serving the Greater Bay Area, China and globally.

Victor Liu, director-general of civil aviation at the Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department, said: “Hong Kong is a major international aviation centre. With our world-class conference and exhibition facilities, as well as renowned hospitality, I am sure the event will be successfully held in our vibrant city.”
