More than just perks

They’re fun, they’re creative, and they’re great news for event planners. They are special perks, and Marriott is offering them to organisers who book inspired meetings at any participating Marriott International hotel across the Asia-Pacific region.

Planners can get four perks free of charge to help them get more out of their events when booking as part of Marriott’s 4 Perks for Free campaign.

Perks to choose from include:

• A free cocktail party;

• Free upgrade to the next meeting package category;

• One complimentary room per 20 paid for;

• Free high-speed internet in meeting rooms;

• 3 per cent rebate on the master account bill;

• Free teambuilding/entertainment activity;

• Five free room upgrades;

• Double Marriott rewarding event points;

• Free photographer at an event;

• 5 per cent off a second meeting when booked at the same time.

Events must be booked by July 31 for stay periods completed between now and the end of September.

Marriott’s Meetings Imagined programme offers planners inspiration and tools for great events, including advice on determining the purpose of meetings, expert tips and trends, an inspiration gallery and a range of hotel ideas.

Highlighted ideas include what’s trending in meeting set-ups, discovering the essence of great events, what makes a good keynote speech, how to use inspirational quotes, and how to use Facebook’s new video streaming tool to benefit your groups.

The Meeting Purpose page helps planners identify the underlying reason for their events, and identifies seven basic types: those that celebrate, those designed to reach a decision, educate, generate new ideas, network, produce, or promote.

The programme enables planners to learn from meeting experts and find inspiration, insights and use tools to make upcoming events more successful.

Expert Tips and Trends on the handy Meetings Imagined website, which can be filtered for event relevance, include advice on how to produce sumptuous mocktails for large gatherings, how to “green up” meetings, how to mine social networks, how to help experts shine, and tips on everything from making nighttime delightful event set-ups, branding, brushing up on lighting and using humour to choices of drinks, desserts and snacks.

The Meetings Imagined Inspiration Gallery offers planners the chance to click checkboxes to filter and view images from meetings and events hosted at hotels around the world. More than 150 examples are featured, from cuisines and settings, décor, room and layout ideas, to practical tips and technical support.

The Hotel Ideas page provides planners with an easy way to select ideal venues for their meetings or events. Alternatives can be explored by filtering requirements  – location, location type, meeting space needs, room types, brands and amenities – to identify and compare Marriott properties worldwide.
