Infinitus China squares up in Adelaide

A LUCRATIVE series of corporate incentive arrivals is expected to deliver a major economic boost to the South Australia economy following the visit to Adelaide of more than 1,200 top-performing distributors from Chinese health and wellness marketer Infinitus.

Business Events Adelaide said this month’s Infinitus JiYang incentive programme heralded the start of more corporate incentives visiting the city this year, including further groups from Greater China, one from Malaysia, and three from India.

The group’s visit from September 1-7, is estimated to form part of a broader wave of inbound incentive travel expected to inject over AUD10 million into South Australia this year.

The event was secured by Business Events Adelaide with strategic backing from Tourism Australia’s Business Events Bid Fund.

Infinitus, a global leader in the direct marketing of traditional Chinese wellness products, selected Adelaide over several competing international destinations to reward its top distributors.

Delegates arrived in two waves, staying across multiple hotels and participating in a five-day itinerary that spanned metropolitan and regional South Australia, including the Fleurieu Peninsula, Adelaide Hills and Barossa Valley.

The programme featured business seminars, a public wellness session, and culminated in a gala dinner at the Adelaide Convention Centre.

“This incentive was much coveted,” said Damien Kitto, CEO of Business Events Adelaide. “We first won this incentive in 2018 and it was due to be held in 2020, however the bid was cancelled due to the Covid pandemic. Having maintained the relationship, it is extremely gratifying to have welcomed Infinitus and their leadership team to Adelaide.”

The visit also follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Tourism Australia and Infinitus in March, aimed at strengthening bilateral ties through business events.

Robin Mack, Acting Managing Director of Tourism Australia, said: “We were honoured to welcome the Infinitus delegation to Adelaide. Business events are not only a powerful driver of Australia’s tourism economy, but also an important bridge for international exchange and collaboration.

“This recent incentive trip in Adelaide follows the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between Tourism Australia and Infinitus in March this year. It is a significant step in turning our strategic partnership into tangible outcomes, showcasing first-hand the strengths of Australia as a business events destination and our unique incentive offering.”

Kitto said the Infinitus incentive reflected Adelaide’s growing appeal as a business events destination. “Affordability is a key factor,” he said. “Despite significant investment in hotels and infrastructure, Adelaide is still ranked as Australia’s most affordable capital city.

“Added to that is the sheer variety of high-quality experiences less than an hour from the CBD – whether it’s food and wine, native wildlife, culture, team building or our beautiful landscapes and coastline, Adelaide has something to suit every taste.”
