3,000-strong Taiwan incentive heads to Malaysia

MyCEB backing aimed at securing Malaysia as preferred destination for WOWPrime as Taiwan restaurant giant treats staff to motivation following Covid slowdown

A MEGA-INCENTIVE to Malaysia by Taiwan’s WOW Prime Corporation began this week with a phased arrival of 3,000 participants through to September.

Malaysia Convention and Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) said the trip would generate nearly US$11 million for the country’s economy and forms part of its target of 114,000 corporate meetings and incentive attendees for 2023.

WOWPrime employs 9,300 people in catering and restaurants operating under its 32 brands serving an estimated 23 million customers since the company was founded in 1993, the Taiwan News reported. Incentive trips are part of the company’s motivation plans for all employees following the Covid slowdown.

MyCEB is supporting the incentive and working with participants to make Malaysia the company’s preferred destination. It said this would pave the way for local destination marketing companies (DMCs) to bring even more corporate incentive groups to Malaysia.

Other employees of WOWPrime are heading to Japan and Turkey under programmes subsidised by the company, but it would cover expenses for the Malaysia trip, according to reports in Taiwan.

Participants heading to Malaysia will be treated to a stay at Lexis Hibiscus Port Dickson, 92km south of Kuala Lumpur, where the resort holds Guinness World Records for its 643 swimming pools and 522 overwater villas.

Activities include the Melaka Historical Tour, a night-market experience at Alor Street, duty-free shopping at Genting Premium Outlets and Genting Sky Avenue Complex, followed by chocolate product shopping and visits to Chinatown, Kwai Chai Hong, Saloma Link bridge, which opened in February 2020, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre and the National Palace.

“Thanks to the support of our Taiwanese participants, MyCEB is honoured to announce that we are the proud host to 3,000 participants of WOWPrime,” said Abdul Khani Daud, MyCEB chief executive.

“This is a great motivation for us to further prepare and welcome our participants in the best capacity. We hope to get more Taiwan business visitors to make Malaysia [their] preferred business events and corporate incentive destination.

“Having WOWPrime augurs well with our target in welcoming 114,000 corporate meetings and incentive participants for 2023, and we will continuously provide the support… so that each participant who visits Malaysia will be inspired by the destination and its endless experience from our distinctive uniqueness in each location,” Daud said.
