Meet Japan offers online fam trip

Japan Convention Bureau and JNTO also team up with conference organisers association Iapco to hold opening-day seminar before delegates move on to virtual tours of selected cities

JAPAN National Tourism Organisation is offering an online fam trip as part of its convention bureau’s hosted buyer programme.

Meet Japan, being held from January 26 to February 4, 2021 is designed to help international associations and PCOs learn more about the country’s convention cities and to connect with local meeting professionals.

“For the first time in its 30 year history, the event will be fully virtual, allowing conference planners from around the world to attend,” said a spokesman for JNTO.

Organisers have until November 5 to apply for the Meet Japan event.

JNTO has teamed up with the International Association of Professional Congress Organisers to provide seminars with leading experts on January 26, the opening day of Meet Japan.

Attendees will have the chance to virtually visit two cities from a choice of four , and to discover the cutting-edge conference centres, unique venues, famous attractions, and memorable group activities they offer.

The final days of the event will be based around remote business meeting with consultations between venue managers selected from 10 cities.

Participants who complete two fam trips and five business meetings will be given priority for invitations to hosted visits at a later date.

“The recent crisis has tremendously impacted the players of the meetings industry, associations and destinations alike. With this event, we hope we can help reconnect international associations with Japan, and in this way, support them in building up their recovery,” Etsuko Kawasaki, executive director of Japan Convention Bureau, said.
