Ballroom suits spreadsheets as KPMG leaders flock to Macau

November saw the biggest names from KPMG’s China division descended on Macau for two days of performance pulse checking and target setting.

The KPMG China Partner’s & Directors’ Conference 2016 took place at Sheraton Grand Macao Hotel, Cotai Central from November 3-4, drawing 600 delegates from Greater China.

Attending for the first time was also KPMG global chairman John Veihmeyer.

Winning Pitch
KPMG selected Sheraton Grand Macao as the venue for the suitability of the hotel’s meeting facilities and environment for post-conference activities.

“We needed a big conference facility, and Sheraton Grand Macao has been phenomenal from a meeting place standpoint,” said Veihmeyer.

“On top of that, you also want some place that you can then, after a long day of meetings, have some space where you can relax, enjoy and build some camaraderie with the team in a more casual environment. The facility here has been great on both counts. Sheraton Grand Macao has been the perfect facility for the meeting we’re holding here.”

Highlights
The main sessions took place in the hotel’s 4,890 sqm Kashgar Ballroom, while interactive “chat rooms” were set up in separate breakout rooms. In each of these spaces, delegates used iPads to discuss questions and provide feedback. All of their feedback was instantly seen on screen through a live feed.

Another event highlight was the BBQ by the Tiki pool, where conference guests were entertained by live music as they enjoyed dinner and drinks with colleagues.

Upshot
“The Sheraton Grand Macao Hotel impressed the KPMG organising team with their flexibility and commitment to serving us,” said Anita Chau, director of marketing for KPMG and organiser of the event.

“The Sheraton conference team listened to the needs of our delegates and helped make improvements where needed. The Sheraton banquet team worked seamlessly with the KPMG events team, and was always available to deal with any issues or last minute changes.

“This was our first project together, and we were pleased the conference logistics went smoothly and without any major problems,” Chau added.

Will Sun, director of strategy for KPMG said: “I would say the conference here at Sheraton Grand Macao has been outstanding, and especially with the technology that we have in place being able to input what we think and instantly upload it to the screen where everyone could see it. That was very good.”
