China’s urban planners will make their mark by attending the first conference at a new convention centre in northern China.
Shenyang New World Expo will welcome more than 8,000 delegates for the Annual National Planning Conference 2016, September 24-26 – the first big event of its type for the multi-use complex.
The conference is being organised by Shenyang’s City Planning Bureau and will be attended by delegates from all over China. To host the event, Shenyang New World Expo had to open six months prior to its planned official opening on March 1, 2017.
“We have a strong senior management team (main picture) and staff in place to meet the needs of the event, which is using every sqm of Expo’s rental space and additionally, an abundance of ancillary space within the venue, all totaling some 30,000 sqm," says Diane Chen, the Expo’s general manager.
Chen said an additional 16,000 sqm was being used for the event from the adjacent retail mall and its exterior Plaza.
Cliff Wallace, chairman of the Expo’s private management and operating company says, “To host this prestigious event as Expo’s opening event while celebrating the 60th anniversary Urban Planning Society of China as a part of the event is very special for our professional management team.”
The Expo is a part of a massive multi-use complex located in Shenyang on the Hunhe River adjacent to the city’s Golden Corridor, which runs through the Liaoning provincial capital’s CBD. With 24,000 sqm of gross exhibition space and 4,000 sqm of multi-functional convention, meeting and banquet space.
The multi-use project, owned by New World China Land (Shenyang), also includes two hotels, a K11 Art Mall shopping centre, three serviced apartment towers, and two office towers.
Shenyang New World Expo (Management) is the Expo’s private professional management and operating company and a sister company to Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (Management), which is under contract with New World China Land (Shenyang).
