Shenyang Expo pre-opening event welcomes 8,000

Close to 8,000 delegates enjoyed a first glimpse of China’s newest and most modern exhibition venue at the Annual National Planning Conference 2016.

The Shenyang New World Expo, due to officially open March 2017, opened sixth months ahead of schedule for the three-day conference, which took place September 24-26.

“I cannot be prouder of our professional management and operating team,” says Cliff Wallace, chairman of Shenyang New World Expo (Management) the venue’s private management and operating company.

Wallace said that it was an “enormous challenge” to open the venue early, but that the outcome was achieved with “great success”.

“We are grateful for the city’s support in making this event happen through the cooperation of its many bureaus,” says Diane Chen, the Expo’s general manager.

“A specialised pre-opening team from our sister company at the HKCEC in Hong Kong was brilliant in providing guidance to our great staff, enabling the entire team to enthusiastically and responsively deliver a high level of customer care to the client and its delegates.”

Singing the venue’s praises was event attendee Zhenchun Men, chairman of Haiming International Exhibition Group:

"Shenyang New World Expo is clearly going to be one of the best venues in Mainland China.

“I am confident that it will set a new benchmark for convention and exhibition venues and professional management in Mainland China."

The conference used 30,000 sqm of space within the Expo and approximately 16,000 sqm of space within the adjacent K11 Art Mall, scheduled to open early next year.

The Expo is a part of a massive multi-use complex located in Shenyang on the Hunhe River adjacent to the city’s Golden Corridor, which runs through the Liaoning provincial capital’s CBD. The venue has 24,000 sqm of gross exhibition space and 4,000 sqm of multi-functional convention, meeting and banquet space in total.
