UNIPLAN has announced a new leadership team at its Shanghai office with Sonny Chen joining as managing director and executive creative director Aiden Liu transferring from Beijing.
Chen joins the brand experience agency from global PR firm Eldelman’s Shanghai office where she was managing director. Edelman Shanghai doubled its size in just three years while led by Chen to become the city’s biggest international marketing communications firm.
Chen was previously general manager at RR Donnelly Asia where she transformed the business unit from a commercial printing trader to a technology-driven experiential marketing solution provider.

“As managing director of Shanghai, Sonny will bring her outstanding management skills and practical business experience to the future growth of Shanghai office,” said Geraldine Chew, Uniplan’s Greater China CEO.
“This will take us forward in a major step towards being our client’s best partner in delivering fully fledged brand experience campaigns.”
Executive creative director Liu has been with Uniplan Beijing for six years working both as part of the creative team and creative lead. Is previous role with the China Science Museum introduced him to the concept of customer journeys which he further developed in Uniplan along with skills in areas such as extended reality (XR).

“Aiden has always been pushing the boundaries of what we can achieve together with our accounts teams, and as a result has gained recognition with their many awards,” Chew said. “He is also the first in our company to do a fully online international launch on an XR stage, pioneering with the creative team on experimenting with new formats ahead of our competitors.”
