Melbourne heads towards strongest incentive year yet

Melbourne Convention Bureau has announced that the financial year 2015/2016 is on track to be one of the strongest incentive years on record.

Karen Bolinger, CEO at the Melbourne Convention Bureau (MCB) announced at IMEX Frankfurt that MCB has surpassed its target, announcing four major incentive travel group wins for the state.

“We have achieved a 42 per cent increase in incentive travel business secured on last financial year, and the year isn’t even over yet,” Ms Bolinger said.

The incentive travel programs will inject an estimated A$50.3 million into the Victoria economy. The events hope to attract over 9,500 delegates over the next two years, which include:

– China Life Insurance 2016

– Taiwan Life Insurance 2016

– Perfect China 2017

– AIA Hong Kong Insurance 2018

Bolinger said that Perfect China 2017 was a special win for Melbourne.

“Perfect China will be one of the largest incentive travel reward groups in Victoria, and will bring 6,000 delegates to our city and regional areas, contributing $33.4 million to the economy.”

Delegates will arrive in stages in June 2017, for a five-day programme.

“Thanks to our ‘Team Melbourne’ collaborative approach, commitment to developing the perfect itinerary and the city’s ability to host a group of this size, Melbourne was chosen as the ideal location for Perfect China,” Bolinger said.

The AIA Hong Kong Insurance, China Life Insurance and Taiwan Life Insurance groups combined will contribute A$16.9 million to economy and bring 3,650 delegates to the state.

“We’re excited to host these delegates, who have all worked incredibly hard to be rewarded with a Melbourne experience,” Bolinger said.

MCB collaborated with hotels, attractions, venues, retail and food and beverage partners, to assist in securing the wins.

Upcoming conferences in Melbourne include GenerationYou Melbourne, Ozwater 2016 and Child Protection, Out of Home Care and the Neurobiology of Trauma Conference 2016.
