IMEX CEO: meetings day unites industry’s hearts and minds

Industry professionals should not underestimate the importance of Global Meetings Industry Day, says IMEX Group CEO Carina Bauer, who praises the day for bringing “the hearts and minds of the global industry together”.

“It is because we, as a group, are committed to the advancement of the industry that we support this annual initiative wholeheartedly,” she adds.

Falling on April 6 this year, the day recognises the meetings industry and the positive impact it has on cities, businesses and economies. Hundreds of events are planned all over the globe.

In addition to its namesake trade show in Frankfurt, the IMEX Group hosts an annual Politicians Forum. The event tends to draw around 40 government representatives and 80 industry leaders.

Greg Clark, a professor and chairman and founder of intelligence and strategy group The Business of Cities, is the keynote speaking for the coming IMEX Opening Ceremony and Politicians Forum, taking place on May 16.

Clark’s set to cover: urbanisation and globalising cities, populism and anti-globalisation; nations and cities; city success and the meetings industry; and making the marriage between city government and meetings industry work.

“As a global cities expert, Greg has significant insight into the role of meetings and events in transforming the economic future of cities across the world,” says Bauer.

“It will be fascinating to hear his views and the contributions of the politicians, government agencies and the industry in response. It will be a very interesting discussion.
