Green light for Vivid Sydney

Sydney’s celebrated festival of “light, music and ideas” kicks off on the May 22, this year enlisting 100 per cent accredited renewable energy sources for its grid-connected lighting installations.

Returning to Darling Harbour for its sixth year, Vivid Sydney provides a platform for members of creative industries to showcase their work and ideas through installations, talks and concerts. But it is best known for hosting spectacular light shows, projections and ‘digital fireworks’ across Sydney Harbour, Circular Quay and The Rocks.

Commenting on the festival’s green ambitions, Destination NSW chief executive officer Sandra Chipchase said: "Vivid Sydney is focused on innovation and creativity, and while the installations and projections will enthrall its visitors, we are also ensuring the festival supports a positive environment message.”

Access to the festival is another priority this year with an additional 3,500 trains, buses and ferries arranged and more viewing areas and drop-off zones allocated.

Vivid Sydney starts tonight and runs until June 8, 2015.
