THE MALDIVES Niyama, located at the South Atoll of Dhaalu, not only offers the exclusivity that is de rigueur for those looking for the site of their next high-end corporate retreat. Most of its facilities, particularly the F&B venues, are designed to offer a range of unique experiences.

Tribal, for example, resembles a modern-day campsite where guests sit in a custom designed pod surrounded by live cooking stations and enjoy cuisine influenced by South America, Africa and Asia. Cooking methods include hot rock grills and open flames.

Fahrenheit is the perfect spot for sundowner cocktails, while watching the changing colours of the horizon across the ocean from the open-air deck or from its stylish interiors.

Soon-to-open Subsix is the home of the world’s first underwater music club (image not yet available) and plans are afoot to convert the space into a daytime meeting room.

Outdoor teambuilding activities abound. A must-try is exploring the islands onboard the traditional dhonis. Indoor activities are no less stimulating, with Wii, Nintendos and table tennis at Active, and books and DVDs at The Lair.

There is a meeting room called HQ, which can accommodate 25 people theatre-style and 15 in a boardroom set up.

However, the resort would prefer to keep the size of the a group staying at the property to a maximum of around 10 people.

Niyama Maldives is a 40-minute seaplane flight from the capital Malé.
