ONG KONG AsiaWorld-Expo has launched two new convention spaces for Hong Kong – Runway 11 and Runway Suites series – to meet the strong demand for flexible event facilities in the city.
Covering 4.400 sqm, the fully carpeted, column-free Runway 11 can accommodate a wide range of events for 500 to 3,800 guests. It is sound-proof and features a sophisticated programmable lighting system, enabling the creation of a unique, tailor-made ambiance. The flexible space, which has an exclusive pre-function area, is ideal for cocktails, product launches, celebratory parties and fashion galas.
The new Runway Suites is comprised of 10 meeting rooms, each capable of seating between 80 and 200 people in a theatre set up.
"We are pleased that Runway 11 and Runway Suites Series have provided new major convention spaces for Hong Kong," said AsiaWorld-Expo chief executive Allen Ha.
He pointed out that the city's business events industry has experienced growh in the past 12 months.
"Hong Kong's MICE industry is a major engine of economic growth. And this has been reflected in the business performance of AsiaWorld-Expo. In the financial year 2011-2012, the number of large-scale 'expotainment' events hosted at the venue and total metreage sold increased by over 20 per cent," he added.
The purpose-built facility expects a sustained market growth in tandem witht he emerging Pearl River Delta Region. Fully-integrated with the Hong Kong International Airport, and soon to be served by a groundbreaking new transportation system linking Hong Kong, Macau and the PRD in a region-wide commute of one hour, AsiaWorld-Expo hopes to establish itself as the undisputed gateway to this economic powerhouse.
The two new convention spaces expand the facility's portfolio of venues, which include the AsiaWorld-Arena, an indoor seated arena with a capacity for up to 14,000 people, as well as the AsiaWorld-Summit, an indoor convention and hospitality hall with a seating capacity between 1,600 and 5,000 people in theatre-style configuration.
