A 4000 capacity event centre completes Sydney’s Star

SYDNEY The Star Event Centre, located along the edge of Sydney Harbour, has opened a brand new event centre completing its AU$870m transformation. A host of new facilities have been added, changing the centre into a complete entertainment and conference complex designed to capture the attention of both the local and international event community.

The new event centre cost AU$100m alone and is located on the Star’s rooftop, affording enviable views over the world famous Sydney Harbour. At over 11500sq ft, the column free venue has a 4000 person capacity. Designed to hose domestic and international meetings, seminars, trade shows, exhibitions and award ceremonies.

A retractable seating system means the Star can also operate as a 3000 person capacity theatre. Meanwhile, gala functions can accommodate up to 1000 guests. Catering is provided through a dedicated commercial kitchen, headed by director of culinary, Andy North and promises restaurant quality food for all events.

As part of the development, the Star has been equipped with unique audiovisial capabilities designed by ScenoPlus, the creators of Las Veags location: The Colosseum at Ceasar’s Palace and The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel.. Intended to attract A-list music acts, the advanced sound and lighting system is intended to give the venue an edge over Sydney’s other conference, convention and banquet venues.

Although the event centre completes The Star’s redevelopment, the first stage actually opened in 2011. As part of the complex the revamped site opened with a brand new nightclub and casino, The Darling, a five-star boutique hotel, and world-class restaurants such as Stefano Manfredi’s Italian restaurant Balla and Australian Steak house, Black by Ezard.

Frederic Luvisutto, managing director of The Star said: “The Event Centre has the latest technology, restaurant quality cuisine and outstanding staging options. Add to this, The Star’s award-winning restaurants, accommodation and entertainment offerings, which can transform into luxurious break out areas or incentive options and you have all the components for a successful event.”
