IN A FUSION of the dramatic arts, gastronomy and ballrooms, the Singapore Repertory Theatre has teamed up with Paradox Singapore Merchant Court to launch an immersive dinner celebration, marking the grand debut of the hotel’s newly renovated Merchant Court Ballroom.
The event, titled Fried Rice Paradise – The Makan Party, is written by Thomas Lim and is known as “Singapore’s tastiest musical”. The show promises a multisensory journey through local storytelling and culinary artistry. Guests will be treated to a four-course menu and themed beverages, each dish crafted to mirror the unfolding narrative, in a collaboration between Singapore Repertory Theatre and the hotel’s culinary team.
“This isn’t just a venue refresh – it is a return to what makes events meaningful,” said Christine Choo, General Manager of Paradox Singapore.
“The new Merchant Court Ballroom reflects our deep belief that connection lies at the heart of every celebration. We are proud to offer a space that honours that truth – through elegance, adaptability, and the signature Paradox hospitality,” she said.
The newly unveiled ballroom spans 660 square metres and boasts a pillar-free layout with 5.5-metre ceilings. Floor-to-ceiling windows flood the space with natural light, while retractable walls allow for seamless transitions between intimate gatherings and grand affairs.
At the heart of the space is a 21 x 4.3-metre panoramic LED video wall, part of an advanced AV system capable of supporting up to seven simultaneous visual displays. A light-filled pre-function foyer, ambient lighting options, and six rigging points further enhance the venue’s versatility for staging and production.
