Premier League kicks off in Beijing

Riviera Events scores with the Premier League by helping bring the organising body for England’s top-tier professional clubs closer to the game in China

AS THE world’s most popular football league, England’s Premier League has long nurtured connections with soccer fans and the game across China both at the professional and community levels. To strengthen this bond, the Premier League celebrated a key milestone: the official opening of its Beijing office. This new base will enhance fan engagement and deepen collaboration with Chinese authorities and stakeholders at all levels.

Riviera Events’ Beijing operations delivered creative design, creative event solutions and on-site event execution.

Renewing Partnerships at the China World Hotel
The first part of the celebration took place at the China World Hotel where the Premier League renewed its partnership with the Chinese Football Association by signing a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). The event featured remarks from Paul Molnar, Chief Media Officer of the Premier League, and President Song of the Chinese Football Association. Soccer legends from the English Premier League including Michael Owen, Nemanja Vidic, and Sun Jihai, along with China soccer coach Wang Dongni were among the guests.

Promoting Football at Grassroots Level
After the MOU signing, the Premier League continued its commitment to community efforts with a Premier Skills Coach Showcase at the Workers’ Stadium. The event, part of a four-day Coach Development course, featured practical sessions for 35 grassroots coaches. Coaches from Leicester City, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, and Wolverhampton Wanderers led the sessions. Over 80 local schoolchildren participated, demonstrating the significant impact of football education on grassroots development.

A Memorable Milestone
A spokesperson for Riviera Events said: “It was an honour for our team in China to support the Premier League in marking this milestone. From creative design to seamless event execution across multiple venues, we ensured every detail aligned with the Premier League’s vision. As the league strengthens its presence in China, we are excited to be part of this ongoing journey, bringing Premier League football closer to local fans and nurturing future talent.”
