INCENTIVE travel organisers across Sydney’s key Asian markets are the prime targets in a new series of videos from the city’s business events promotion body.
The BESydney campaign, which commences on April 28, encourages incentive travellers to discover the people and the stories behind the city’s well known landmarks and activities.

The Sydney Series: Beyond the Icons focuses on four leading experience providers who share local knowledge, expertise and their own background to create blended narratives of the city’s “melting pot of ideas and cultures”.
The narratives are mainly aimed at organisers in the emerging market of India and the more established China market to discover some of the unique multicultural neighbourhoods and experiences across Sydney.

“The Sydney Series: Beyond the Icons is our guide for delegates who enjoy the road less travelled and want to experience something new and exciting in Sydney,” said Lyn Lewis-Smith, BESydney’s CEO.
“Our city is brimming with events and experiences that are geared towards visitors and locals alike, and we want delegates who come to our city to feel at home and enjoy our warm Aussie welcome.”
Rakesh Pillai, International Convention Centre (ICC) Sydney Executive Chef, can be found curating a fine dining experience for thousands of delegates or an intimate VIP gathering. The key for Chef Pillai is using locally sourced ingredients. He takes inspiration from Sydney’s South Asian community, blending home cooking and native Australian ingredients.
Gill Minervini, VIVID Sydney Festival Director speaks on her version of Sydney as being a trip to suburbs such as Newtown and Surry Hills, where delegates can experience unforgettable dining and local performances in trendy and artistic neighbourhoods. Vivid Sydney, already a huge tourist attraction, could transform the way visitors experience the “low season” in Sydney. As the locals wind down for the city’s mild winter months, this celebration of art and technology illuminates the city indoors and out each night.
Kyle Ivey, BridgeClimb Sydney Indigenous Climb Leader guides climbers atop the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge, sharing ancient insights into the spectacular natural and urban landscapes that spread for miles around you. BridgeClimb Sydney takes delegates on a unique journey with stories of Australia’s First Nation’s people and their Sydney history. Kyle speaks on his appreciation of the lesser-known Sydney and how he likes doing a First Nation’s walking tour of The Rocks with his visitors.
Sheridan Beaumont, Founder of Sydney Oyster Farm Tours, is an agritourism innovator. Less than an hour from Sydney’s CBD, her tours offer delegates an opportunity to experience a day-in-the-life-of an oyster farmer and sample fresh produce that finds its way to the tables of Sydney’s finest restaurants.
