PCMA has postponed its Convening Asia Pacific conference due to organisers being “overwhelmed with producing events” as they battle to make up for revenue lost during the Covid downturn.
The association’s Asia Pacific managing director, Florence Chua, said in a statement that the region was also navigating the uncertainties left by the pandemic with some markets yet to re-open fully.
PCMA Convening Asia Pacific had been announced last week as a series of digital forums culminating with the main, in-person event in Singapore, September 7-9. A new date for the event has yet to be decided.

The event would have also featured the inaugural Convening Asia Pacific Awards, an invitation-only Sydney Experience and online workshops covering sustainability, women leadership and mentoring sessions.
“Limited budgets, increasing travel costs, intense workload and the extended border restrictions have proven to be a barrier in our efforts to deliver an impactful and meaningful Convening Asia Pacific for all stakeholders,” Chua added in the PCMA statement.

Addressing business event industry professionals who have joined the Chicago-headquartered association, she said: “We understand what you are challenged with, and we remain committed to delivering a productive and meaningful gathering when the region is positioned to move forward.“
The event would have followed Convening Asia Pacific: The Global Recovery Forum held digitally with an in-person event at ICC Sydney in 2020, and PCMA Convening Leaders, which was broadcast globally from Marina Bay Sands last year.
