BRITISH actress and social campaigner Joanna Lumley is one of the keynote speakers signed up by the Korea International Travel Expo – a new exhibition hosted by the country’s convention bureau.
Lumley, who starred in action-adventure movies and comedy classics such as Absolutely Fabulous, will join the event by hologram from London.
Chang Chee Pey, assistant chief executive of Singapore Tourism Board, will also deliver a keynote via hologram technology while Burkhard Kieker, CEO of Berlin Tourism and Congress, will fly to Incheon to join the event in person.
Presented as a new “One-stop Travel Expo”, KITE 2021 takes place June 29 to July 13 and will provide an overview of Korea tourism in preparation for the restart of inbound tourism.

The hybrid event’s opening ceremony will be live-streamed from Paradise City Hotel, Incheon, and a combination of four tourism-related events covering MICE, tourism, luxury travel, and medical and wellness will be launched. The talents of Korean longboarder Ko Hyojoo will be on show the opening event rounded off with a nighttime light drone display.
A spokesman for Korea MICE Bureau, which will hold its expo during the event, said delegates would receive the latest information on Korea tourism in the four sectors, engage in one-to-one video business consultation with Korean sellers through a new online platform, and gain insight into post-Covid-19 tourism in Korea through various conference themes.

“Over a period of two weeks, KITE 2021 will provide a virtual gathering space for 1,500 domestic and overseas buyers and thousands of visitors to network and connect with local service providers, including RTOs, CVBs, travel agencies, hotels, luxury travel companies, convention centres, medical institutions and more,” the bureau spokesman said.
Korea Tourism Organisation is inviting industry professionals to the Korea International Travel Expo to lean more about travel in Korea post-Covid-19 and meet local exhibitors offering new attractions and experiences.
