The Singapore MICE Forum (SMF) 2016 received an impressive turnout, welcoming over 400 delegates on the first day alone.
A total of 401 delegates, representing 26 countries and 126 companies, attended day one of the two-day forum last week.
Organised by the Singapore Association of Convention and Exhibition Organisers (SACEOS), the forum’s theme – Reimagine – focused on delivering new perspectives.
President of SACEOS, Ms Janet Tan-Collis, celebrated the coming together of experienced professionals and new talent:
“The wisdom from the experienced MICE practitioners honed through time blended with the receptive, hungry minds of the new talents who are eagerly awaiting the nuggets of wisdom from the content experts – all under one roof. It speaks greatly about how people in our industry care about continuity and relevance,” she said.
Professor Danny Quah and moderator Nino Gruettke opened the forum with an engaging discussion on the new world order, relevant socio-economic framework and disruption that leads to positive action.
Quah offered practical advice for prioritising. He urged attendees not to worry over minor issues that will be irrelevant in five years’ time.
Quah also emphasised that the world economic centre is moving towards the East, which encompasses half of the world’s population. He anticipates that there will be more and more business opportunities in this region as a result.
The global Industry Thought Leaders Panel discussion and the Panel Discussion about Growth for the MICE industry had some 13 distinguished speakers from all over the world. The speakers shared their experience and knowledge to offer good insights about the industry development.
Key topics of discussion on the second day of the forum included growth in the MICE industry and digital strategy.
The Sixth Annual Singapore MICE Forum was held at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre, Singapore from the 28 – 29 July, 2016.
