Marco Polo Hongkong Hotel has retained its EarthCheck Silver Certification for 2020. It is the third year the property has recognised by EarthCheck, a leading environmental benchmark for travel and tourism.
Greenhouse gas emissions per-guest night in 2019 for the property performed better than competitors, while potable water consumption was reduced by 12 per compared to the previous year, placing the hotel’s performance above average.
Dalip Singh, general manager of Marco Polo Hotels – Hong Kong said the Covid challenges of 2020 did not restrain the hotel from continuously operating with a social and environmentally responsible approach.
“Hotel associates initiated new projects dedicated to protect the environment including trekking location clean-ups and soap bar recycling,” Singh said.
“The hotel has also changed all bathroom amenities on standard floors to eco-friendly products from Italy. We’re on target to enhance our global sustainable development goals, maintaining us as corporate citizens in the community and environment.”

A “Work from Hotel at Centara” is being offered at the group’s hotels and resorts across Thailand for extended stays from until June 30.
