Rwanda prepares to host ICCASkills

CONVENTION organisers association ICCA is bringing its skills program to Kigali, Rwanda’s capital city as the African country makes its mark as a conference and meetings destination.

The ICCASkills Hub will bring together industry providers and local authorities under a partnership between ICCA, the Rwanda Convention Bureau and organisers Rwanda Events Group to hold two classes during the year.

An ICCA spokesperson said the launch underscored Rwanda’s commitment to developing talent and strengthening its position as a leading business events destination in Africa.

ICCASkills is a globally recognised certification programme, created by ICCA and industry experts, designed to elevate the skills and expertise of business events professionals. The workshops combine a “real-world perspective which bridges theory and practice with hands-on professional development”.

Rwanda is regarded an example of professional development in Africa after the country emerged from the ravages of civil war in the early 1990s.

“ICCASkills has proven to be a successful programme for the meetings and events community, and we’re thrilled to expand our educational offerings to the African region,” said Senthil Gopinath, ICCA chief executive.
