HKCEC opens Harbour Studio

Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre works with imEMC to set up fully equipped facility for online and hybrid events

A STUDIO enabling organisers to reach a global audience through virtual or hybrid events has opened at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Harbour Studio has been set up after HKCEC’s management company (HML) teamed up with Hong Kong event management company imEMC, which also provides LED technology to venues and organisers.

The studio is installed with two 6×3 metre LED wall panels, cameras, AV equipment, and reliable broadband connection to enable live broadcasts, webinars, product launches and interviews.

HML says organisers can save time spent coordinating with tech suppliers as the studio comes ready with items including wireless clip microphones, video mixer, laptop playback equipment and choices of furniture. Support is also provided by onsite technicians.

Hong Kong’s Victoria Harbour also provides a natural backdrop and there is a selection of creative visuals.

“The newly created Harbour Studio gives event organisers huge flexibility in designing their own bespoke online or hybrid events while enjoying full technical support by HML,” says Monica Lee-Müller, managing director of HML.

“We will continue to work with event organisers to co-create and reinvent events, bringing all new online experience to participants.”

Reminds me of a decade ago when all of the big corporates had shiny TV studios in the basement; whatever happened to them? I love the fact that out of this very challenging and difficult year the whole world has raised its game with digital tech and communications, to personal occasions with online weddings, funerals and family quizzes but also for corporates to embrace broadcast technology within its daily comms and events strategy. If only the world would be better supported with a 5G rollout, then we are really supported with digital growth and connectivity.
