ORGANISERS of a leading animated film festival have teamed up with travel technology platform HotelPlanner as its flagship event returns to Singapore after a two-year break from in-person conventions.
Singapore-based Sozo runs Anime Festival Asia along with several events in the field of Japanese popular music and digital media. The event returns to a physical format at Suntec Singapore, November 25-27.
“This is our first collaboration with an Anime and J-Culture event and we are honoured to be supporting the momentous return of AFA Singapore. We hope that this marks the beginning of upcoming successful partnerships with AFA in other regions,” said Christopher Lee, executive vice president at HotelPlanner, Asia Pacific.
“With pent-up demand for travel growing, we are keen on exploring new partnerships within Singapore and the entire Asia Pacific region,” Lee said.
As the largest J-Culture and ACG Festival in Southeast Asia, AFA Singapore recorded one if its largest crowd of about 120,000 attendees in 2019, before the pandemic left the industry to a standstill.

Lee said that as economies rapidly reopen, a designated platform for hotel stays offered more convenience and capture an additional market in live events. Attendees will be able to book hotels located around the venue at competitive rates substantially reducing travelling time and improving their overall experience.
