MG unveils new EV at Mexican soiree

Riviera Events is driving creative force as car brand celebrates 100 years by launching electric hatchback in Shanghai with incentive experience for car dealers from Mexico

FROM humble beginnings in the English city of Oxford in 1924, MG Motors has taken many twists and turns on the road. A century later and it’s cruising in top gear as a global automotive brand. 

These days MG is owned by Shanghai-based SAIC Motors these, and in conjunction with MG Mexico, the company sought to leverage the excitement of F1’s return to the city by putting corporate event agency in the driving seat for a combined centenary celebration, car-dealership incentive and product launch.

The marque invited its top 40 dealers in Mexico to Shanghai for a week of corporate training, discovery and a anniversary soiree.

Riviera Events’ planning team in Shanghai was tasked with assisting MG Motors in delivering a memorable 100th anniversary dinner, alongside a special unveiling of its latest product – the MG4 EV, the manufacturer’s first fully electric hatchback.

The historic Baowu Steel Exhibition and Expo Centre was transformed into a dynamic showcase of MG Motors’ heritage and technological advancements, 

The venue’s towering 40-metre-high furnace, a remnant of industrial prowess, served as an ideal backdrop for the evening’s festivities. Amid the electrified atmosphere of celebration, guests were treated to an array of entertainment, kicking off with a spirited performance by traditional drummers.

Speakers from SAIC Motor International and SAIC International Mexico took the opportunity to reflect on the company’s remarkable journey over the past century, highlighting key milestones, challenges, and triumphs that have shaped the brand into what it is today.

Premium Mexican beverages such as Maestro Dobel Diamante Reposado Tequila and a Caja Rios cocktail made with coffee and Licór 43 were served. Meanwhile, the vibrant atmosphere was further elevated by a captivating Flying Peacock Classical Dance, which served as the perfect finale.

“Behind the scenes, Riviera Events’ management team in Shanghai was firing on all cylinders to ensure the success of this historic event,” said a Riviera spokesperson.

Mexico’s favourite cocktails and other libations were the order of the day
