Phuket gets four event districts

THAILAND Convention and Exhibition Bureau has unveiled a new strategy that demarcates Phuket into four districts with each catering to the different needs of business event groups.

TCEB unveiled the Southern MICE District: Phuket Series at the Novotel Phuket City Phokeethra Hotel recently.

This initiative is aimed at positioning Phuket as a high-value MICE destination and as a model for similar projects in other southern Thai provinces including Surat Thani and Songkhla.

Each of the four MICE districts (The North Wind, The Lagoon, The Old Town, and The South Shore) has its own unique selling points:

The North Wind – located in the northern part of the island, this district offers serene natural settings, including tranquil beaches, mangrove forests, and local community experiences, complemented by Michelin-guided cuisine.

The Lagoon – this is in the island’s centre and boasts five-star hotels, modern facilities, vibrant nightlife, and adventure activities, making it ideal for team-building and corporate get togethers.

The Old Town – Phuket city centre is rich in multicultural and historical heritage with traditional architecture, local crafts and cuisine to provide a blend of tradition and modernity.

The South Shore  – southwest Phuket is known for its scenery, beach clubs, shopping experiences, and international hotel brands that provide a luxurious backdrop for events.

TCEB president Chiruit Isarangkun Na Ayuthaya said: “Phuket is a world-renowned destination and one of Thailand’s main MICE Cities. The Southern MICE District: Phuket Series is developed to show wealthy ingredients of the island.

“The grouping of the ingredients in each of the four districts will make it easier for planners, organisers and travellers to make a choice [when] locating events and activities.

“Return on time and return on investment can become a reward for their events. The project is intended to be a value-added initiative for the island and a response to the ‘3s strategy’ of the bureau in making Thailand a destination for ‘Stay Longer, Spend More and See You Again’.”
