Australia offers planners virtual weekend

Tourism Australia goes live this weekend with online fam trip to inspire event and incentive travel planners

TOURISM AUSTRALIA is inviting event planners around the globe to enjoy a slice of Australia with a curated program of live virtual travel experiences on this  weekend.

The new initiative from Australia’s national tourism agency called Live from Aus will deliver over 24 hours of inspiration, education and entertainment across of May 16 and 17, with new content debuting each hour from 5am SGP/HK time until 7pm on Saturday and from 4am to 7pm on Sunday.

Offering a glimpse of what’s possible for future incentive events in Australia, the weekend will include a range of exclusive travel experiences, highlighting unique culture, natural beauty, world class food and drink, amazing wildlife, and the Australian personality.

From wine tasting and cheese making to the waters of the Great Barrier Reef, the shores of Kangaroo Island, the doors of MONA and evenings at Uluru and the Sydney Opera House, alongside a dinner party with chef Matt Moranand friends, the program of live events kicks off from 5am SGP/HK on Saturday.

Tourism Australia managing director Phillipa Harrison said the broadcast and digital activation is aimed at keeping event planners inspired and engaged for when it’s safe to send groups to Australia again.

“Even though demand for travel is currently on hold and the timing of the recovery is still uncertain, it’s important that we continue to engage with business event planners around the globe,” she said.

“Our goal is keeping Australia front of mind for event planners by using this enforced period of self-isolation to engage with people in their living rooms, feed their escapism and inspire them to plan for travel again once the restrictions start to lift.”

The Live From Aus program will be hosted by various Australian personalities, advocates and industry operators who will present a range of interactive experiences, including cooking demonstrations, wine tastings, exercise classes, cultural immersion sessions, Australian wildlife encounters, and a live music program presented by Sounds Australia.

The Live from Aus program schedule can be viewed on www.australia.com and on Facebook.
