WH Ming Hotel adds to Shanghai’s venue options

SHANGHAI – New venue options abound for meeting groups travelling to the city's North East Bund with the debut of WH Ming Hotel.

The 188-room hotel, which aims to offer guests an exquisite experience of authentic Shanghai culture, is located in the centre of the Yangpu District and overlooks Huangxing Park.

Event spaces at the WHM Group’s flagship hotel include two ballrooms and four multipurpose rooms.


Diamond Grand Ballroom

The 1,200 sqm Diamond Grand Ballroom, with a ceiling 7.4 metres high and fitted with crystal chandeliers, can hold groups of up to 1,300 people theatre style and 720 banquet style. It can be divided into three sections for smaller events. It includes two VIP rooms as well as a 900 sqm pre-function hall which can hold 200 people for cocktails.


Ruby Ballroom

The 480-sqm Ruby Ballroom can accommodate 550 for cocktails and 300 for banquets. It can be divided into five multi-purpose function rooms, each of which can seat up to 110 people theatre style.

Four meeting rooms, whose sizes range between 52 sqm and 128 sqm and are equipped with wireless high-speed internet access and audio-visual facilities, are also available. Outdoor events can be staged at the 600-sqm terrace overlooking the park.

Between meetings and functions, group participants can also enjoy the 5,000-sqm Faye Spa, which covers three floors of the hotel’s Annex Building. The spa has a thermal therapy zone and 22 luxurious hydrotherapy suites with massage bathtubs, in addition to the nine hydrotherapy and physiotherapy rooms in the Main Building.


MIA Space

Another leisure option is a walk around the MIA (Media Image Art) Space, an area equipped with state-of-the-art sound, light, image and video technologies designed to showcase Shanghai’s history through the evolution of its local cuisine. It recreates scenes from the past – from a Qing Dynasty restaurant, the Paramount dance hall in the 1930s, shikumen lane houses of the 1950s to  a steel factory canteen from the Cultural Revolution – for visitors to see. MIA Space is jointly created by Shanghai-born, Chinese-American theatre director Sherwood Hu and Xiao Nan Guo Group founder and chairwoman, Ms. Wang Huimin.
