AN ELECTRONICS and semiconductor showcase in Penang has been joined by two new trade events that highlight the Malaysian state’s role as a tech manufacturing hub.

The multi-expo event was officially opened by Goh Choon Aik, a Penang state legislator, who praised the organisers for delivering a forward-looking showcase that enhanced Penang’s global standing in electronics and semiconductor manufacturing.

The events, organised by Fireworks Trade Media Group and NRG Exhibitions (M), also highlighted Penang as a destination for foreign investment.
More than 200 exhibitors from over 40 countries attended the events in addition to thousands of trade visitors, engineers, and decision-makers, according to the organisers and Penang Convention and Exhibition Bureau.
Attendees engaged in activities such as technical seminars, live technology demonstrations, and event a wire-harness competition. Business matching sessions facilitated strategic partnerships, while showcases of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) and smart factory solutions showed the industry’s shift toward sustainability.

Industry forums and conferences provided insights into emerging trends, while a networking cocktail session was held to foster deeper collaboration among participants.
In his keynote address, Goh emphasised Penang’s substantial contribution to Malaysia’s industrial growth, noting that the state accounted for 22 per cent of the nation’s total approved manufacturing investments in the first quarter of 2025. He also lauded the event’s alignment with Malaysia’s green and digital industrial roadmap.
Kenny Yong, CEO of NRG Exhibitions and Fireworks Trade Media Group, said the newly launched expos would advance sustainable electronics and semiconductor manufacturing, helping Penang to lead the charge in Asia’s tech growth.
