TCEB rolls out ‘Magnificient Themes’ incentive experiences

The Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) has launched a series of themed experiences to promote incentive opportunities in key business events cities.

The MICE Magnificent Themes campaign was unveiled at the Asia-Pacific Incentives and Meetings Expo (Aime) 2017 as part of TCEB’s ‘Thailand Connect The World’ initiative.

The bureau also announced at Aime that it had won bids for the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) Global Professionals Conference (Asia Pacific) 2017, and the Union of International Associations (UIA) Round Table Asia Pacific 2017.

TCEB president Nopparat Maythaveekulchai says the campaign aims to highlight “the diversity of Thailand’s myriad attractions for international MICE travellers, and offers event planners a dazzling array of destinations, promoting the highlights of the country’s key MICE cities”.

In addition to established business events destinations such as Bangkok, Phuket and Pattaya, the campaign seeks to promote emerging cities, including Chiang Rai, Krabi, Surat Thani, and Nakhon Pathom.

The themed experiences are as follows:

  • Fascinating history and culture of Thailand, covering temple visits across Bangkok, Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai and Phetchaburi
  • Treasured team building
  • Exhilarating adventures
  • Corporate Social Responsibility and Green meetings, offering activities from conservation and wildlife to sustainability and beachside eco-activites
  • Lavish luxury, ranging from boutique stays in the northern regions to six-star accomodation in the south of Thailand
  • Culinary journeys, covering cooking classes, market and organic farm visits
  • Beach bliss, taking groups to the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand

2017 wins
The bureau has secured a number of high profile events for the year ahead, including the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) Global Professionals Conference (Asia Pacific), and the Union of International Associations (UIA) Round Table Asia Pacific.

The PCMA conference, taking place in Bangkok in August, is expected to draw 35 global planners. Scheduled for the following month, the UIA Round Table is expected to welcome 100 association representatives to Chiang Mai.

Maythaveekulchai says the PCMA conference win “highlights the readiness and potential of Thailand as a global convention hub for the industry of Asia-Pacific”.

Besides these two events, Thailand is set to host the following over the course of the year:

  • Manulife MDRT PEAK Convention 2017, with 2,000 delegates expected
  • SIGGRAPH Asia 2017, with 7,500 delegates expected
  • 10th International Convention of Asia Scholars (ICAS), with 2,000 delegates expected
  • VIV Asia 2017, with 30,000 delegates expected
  • Bangkok Entertainment Fest 2017, with 700,000 participants expected
