London-headquartered The Appointment Group is the latest global events company to expand its reach across Asia Pacific via acquisition.
TAG’s Asia Pacific managing director, Shane Barr, announced that the company had acquired Axis Events, which was founded in Sydney by Paul Christie three decades ago. As part of the acquisition, 28 Axis Events staff move to TAG with a planned recruitment drive to create new event management and business development roles
The move comes three years after The Appointment Group Asia Pacific entered the region and opened offices in Singapore in 2015. TAG, which is marking a 25-year anniversary, now has nine offices across Australia, the UK, United States and Singapore.

Leading TAG Asia Pacific is managing director Shane Barr with over 20 years industry experience across three continents. Leading and managing the events division will be Laura Tucker, general manager, global events for Asia Pacific.
