Noor takes up MyCEB role

After leading ICCA Asia Pacific to become association’s largest chapter, Noor Ahmad Hamid joins Malaysia Convention and Exhibition Bureau

MALAYSIA Convention and Exhibition Bureau has appointed former ICCA Asia Pacific director Noor Ahmad Hamid as chief operating officer.

Noor’s new post comes as MyCEB unveils a business events strategic marketing plan for 2021-2030 and follows his influential role as the main regional link between conference destinations and decision makers in the International Conference and Convention Association.

“With his vast experience, knowledge, and passion for the business events industry, we firmly believe that he will be able to steer MyCEB as one of the best models of convention bureau in the world,” MyCEB chairman Noor Zari Hamat said.

MyCEB chief executive Abdul Khani Daud welcomed Noor’s role in enhancing the bureau’s strategic direction, community collaboration and operational processes.

Noor started his career with Tourism Malaysia in the early 1980s before moving to the corporate sector and association organisers. He served as ICCA’s regional director Asia Pacific for 11 years and transformed the regional office into a Global Research Centre, initiated an annual AP Summit and helped grow the Asia Pacific Chapter as the largest in ICCA’s global membership.

“I am humbled by this appointment and would like to thank MyCEB’s chairman and board of directors for their trust,” Noor said.

“I would also like to specifically thank the MyCEB CEO for this opportunity and look forward to working with him and the stakeholders in advancing the business events industry. I am thrilled to join MyCEB which will complete my career cycle from the government sector to the corporate entities, the association world and now to a destination marketing organisation.”
