Macau events leaders form MISE to champion industry

Meetings, incentives and events professionals in Macau have joined forces to launch an association to represent the industry regionally and help attract more international events to the city.

The Macau Meetings, Incentives and Special Events Association (MISE) was inaugurated at a special ceremony at St Regis Macao, Cotai Central on March 8. 

Leading figures in Macau’s meetings and events community who say the region needs a voice for the industry. The non-profit association will also develop creative MICE educational programmes, independent reports into the sector, create a platform through the medium of English to bond industry professionals working in Macau.

Todd Cai is president of the new association and Bruno Simões is secretary. Cai is president of Powerhouse Convention and Exhibition and an 18-year veteran of the industry. Simões was events co-ordinator at the Macau Handover Ceremony Coordination Office when the enclave was returned to Chinese sovereignty. He then worked for a large Portuguese travel agency and returned to Macau in 2008 to set up smallWorld Experience and DOC DMC.

Rebecca Choi, co-founder and director of Conde Group; Felipe Senna Fernandes, managing partner of Interface Consulting (Asia), and David Paulo Riberio, co-owner and managing director of Side Effect Productions and Frati Ribeiro, have been named as vice-presidents of MISE.
