Lotte Hotel World injects fun to corporate events

SEOUL Lotte Hotel World in Seoul offers corporate groups a chance to reconnect with their inner child between meetings and conferences.

Next door to this 467-room property is to Lotte World Adventure and Magic Island, which is a fun alternative venue for events or team building. It is a theme park filled with thrilling rides, an ice rink, different kinds of parades as well as a folk museum, a lake, and much more. It has two parts: the outdoor Magic Island and indoor Lotte World Adventure. The theme park is open all year round regardless of the weather.

Baek Lae Jo, manager of sales and marketing at Lotte Hotel World, estimated that about 30 to 40 per cent of groups visit Lotte World, where they receive a 30 to 40 per cent discount on tickets. In fact, at least six times a year the entire park is rented out by corporate clients, which have included X-Box, Hyundai and Kia Motors.

“For MICE Groups, we can help put a carpet over the ice-skating rink for commercial events or exhibitions, or they can rent the whole theme park!” said Sun-ki Hong, director of international marketing at Lotte World. He added that the folk museum and adjoining Jeojageori traditional Korean restaurant can be rented separately, and are very popular options for events.

The hotel, which prides itself as a city resort for its location in Seoul’s Gagnam district, also offers facilities that appeal to guests’ inner child.

There are also 30 “character rooms” on two floors of the hotel. Designed for children, they feature the mascots of Lotte World and with cartoon amenities and beds, desks and wallpaper all designed in a jovial style. An in-room PlayStation and view of the theme park outside is standard.

The hotel is currently enjoying a good events business. For the first half of 2012, more 70 MICE groups, 30 per cent of them international and 70 per cent domestic, have used the hotel and its facilities. The hotel also counts Hyundai among its return MICE customers, which holds regularly for training, incentive tours for dealers, conferences and meetings.

Lotte Hotel World has nine function rooms. It has a total of  2,715 sqm of meeting space that can host from large international conferences of 1,600 people or break-out sessions of six people. 

Other facilities in the hotel include a shopping mall, cinema, five F&B outlets, a gym, indoor swimming pool, a theatre and duty free shop. There is also a medical clinic on the sixth floor for dental or aesthetic surgery
