ITB Asia closes on virtual high

Messe Berlin’s Singapore week-long show sees 900 buyers logging on to online platform with hopes of in-person event returning in 2022

ITB Asia 2021’s week-long virtual travel trade show came to a close with 42,100 business meetings and exchanges – an increase of 31 per cent from last year, says organisers Messe Berlin (Singapore).

More than 900 buyers along with 400 sponsors and exhibitors from around the world participated in conferences and networking sessions at the supported by international companies and destinations.

The October 22-26 show, hosted virtually on the online platform ITB Community in Asia, also featured 3,200-plus exhibitor showcases.

“We are proud that with this year’s virtual ITB Asia, we were once again able to provide a unique meeting platform for the travel industry in surely one of the most challenging times,” said Katrina Leung, managing director of Messe Berlin (Singapore).

Leung said she hoped the next ITB Asia, scheduled to be held in Singapore, October 19-21, would see the return of the in-person event.
