Grand Ballroom comes to Kowloon East

HONG KONG The new Crowne Plaza Hong Kong Kowloon East is positioning itself as a “MICE powerhouse”, and has the facilities to back up the claim. The new hotel sits on top of the PopCorn shopping mall and Tseung Kwan O MTR station, so transport isn’t a problem. The MTR links the venue directly  to the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC).

The 359-room hotel will undoubtedly be hoping events will locate to its own spaces, however. At some 1,030sqm with a 6.75-meter high ceiling, the Grand Ballroom is one of the largest in Hong Kong.  The space is able to accommodate 1,600 people for theatre meetings and 2,000 people for cocktail receptions.

To accommodate delegates, all rooms and suites have city views and come equipped work desks, ergonomic Herman Miller task chairs and high-speed internet access. The hotel’s 11 meeting rooms add up to a total of 2,400 square meters of event space. The highlights are:

Grand Ballroom

A 6.75-meter high ceiling and over 1,000 square meters of pillar-less space. This ballroom also features built-in LCD projectors with multiple drop-down large-format screens, a cloak room and three en-suite VIP rooms. A spacious pre-function area has floor to ceiling bay windows along one side which open out to an external patio, ideal for a tea and coffee break.

Diamond Rooms

There are eight of these meeting rooms, each with floor-to-ceiling windows offering natural daylight. One of the meeting rooms can be extended to an outdoor patio.

The Garden

An outdoor garden with it’s own designated walkway to the venue allows a grand entry for VIPs or celebrities. The surrounding lush greenery creates a relaxing oasis for cocktail receptions and team building activities.

Activities:

The hotel can organise a host of events, ranging from pre-or-post event cocktails in its Garden area to Tai Chi lessons or driving to Sai Kung town for a fresh seafood lunch or dinner. The hotel is also close to the Island Golf Club driving range, the Jockey Club Kau Sai Chau Public Golf Course and the Clearwater Bay Golf and Country Club. Easy access to Tseung Kwan O Sports Ground and numerous hiking trails in Sai Kung mean the location is ideal for team building or outdoor activities.

Until 30 June, packages start from HK$600 for a full day or HK$450 for a half day for a meeting for 10 to 1,000 people, inclusive of lunch, coffee break and tea and coffee throughout.
